Liverpool face setback over Calvin Ramsay

Liverpool could be set for a huge transfer setback regarding young Aberdeen right-back Calvin Ramsay.

What’s the word?

According to Football Insider, Leeds United have been granted permission to open talks with the 18-year-old, who has recently been crowned the SFWA Young Scottish Player of the Year after an excellent campaign.

[snack-amp-story url=”https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-liverpool-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-salah-gnabry-isak-romano” title= “Read the latest Liverpool news!”]

Aberdeen will demand a fee which matches the youngster’s talents, and with Serie A outfit Bologna making a reported £4.8m bid for the defender in January, both Liverpool and Leeds will likely need to surpass that amount to secure his signing.

Liverpool face blow in pursuit of Ramsay

Liverpool have been outstanding this season, with a historic quadruple in their sights, although Jurgen Klopp is still planning for the future.

Ramsay has excelled in the Aberdeen first team this term, clocking the fourth-highest WhoScored rating of anyone to play more than 15 times for them in 2021/22, leaving little wonder as to why multiple Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in him.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold becoming a mainstay at right-back for Liverpool at the tender age of 23, this could give Leeds the edge in the chase for the Scottish starlet, especially if they have been given permission to speak to him over a potential transfer.

The Whites could perhaps offer a more attainable route to first-team football, and Ramsay’s next move will need to be chosen carefully for his career development. Just take a look at Nathan Patterson, who moved from Rangers to Everton and has barely featured for the struggling Toffees.

Ramsay has played 32 times for Aberdeen this season, scoring once and grabbing an impressive nine assists despite his team having a difficult campaign.

As Klopp continues his search for an understudy to Alexander-Arnold, he could well miss the chance to sign Ramsey, as Leeds appear to have edged ahead in the race for him.

If his first season at senior level has told us something, it’s that the 18-year-old looks set to become one of Scotland’s brightest talents over the next few years. Therefore, Klopp may well be fuming if the Reds miss out to their Premier League rivals for the Aberdeen starlet.

18/3 (domingo) – 19h30 – Botafogo x Santos – Santa Cruz
21/3 (quarta) – 19h30 – Santos x Botafogo – Vila Belmiro

T&T, Windward win opening matches

A round-up of matches on the first day of the WICB regional one-day tournament

ESPNcricinfo staff15-Oct-2010Darren Bravo struck the first hundred of this season’s WICB regional one-day competition to lead reigning champions Trinidad & Tobago to an eight-wicket victory against Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) at Kensington Park in Jamaica. Coming in at No. 3, after his older brother Dwayne was dismissed with the score on 17, Bravo hit six sixes during an innings of 104 off 121 balls. He pushed towards the century with three sixes in left-arm spinner Kavesh Kantasingh’s ninth over. Bravo forged a half-century partnership with Adrian Barath and then added another 119 with his captain Daren Ganga to achieve the target of 201 in the 43rd over.CCC nearly had a centurion too but Floyd Reifer’s innings was cut short on 99 when he was caught by Dave Mohammed off Kieron Pollard. Reifer’s contribution was the only one of note in CCC’s innings, though their captain Romel Currency scored a painstaking 49 off 104 balls. CCC were comfortably placed at 138 for 3, but T&T’s seamers Ravi Rampaul (4 for 36) and Pollard jolted the middle order and restricted them to 200 for 8.An ankle injury to Chris Gayle and rain aided Windward Islands in their task of upsetting Jamaica at the Trelawny Stadium. Gayle was forced to retire hurt on 0, with Jamaica on 16, and watched as his team lost wickets in their struggle for momentum. He returned with the score on 134 for 4 and blitzed 58 off 38 balls, an innings that included four fours and four sixes. Gayle’s strike-rate of 152.63 was the only one greater than 65 in Jamaica’s innings and, as a result, the home team was able to post 223 for 5.Windward openers, Devon Smith and Johnson Charles, added 65 by the 15th over of the chase before rain stopped play. When they resumed two hours later, the target had been revised to 113 off 25 overs, leaving Windwards to get only 48 off ten with all their wickets intact. They lost quick wickets, though, and went from 66 for 0 to 85 for 5 in 29 balls. Smith remained firm and was unbeaten when rain interrupted their chase for a second time after 20 overs. The umpires inspected the conditions when the weather cleared, but ruled it was not suitable to continue. Under the D/L method, Windwards were 10 runs ahead.

Conte approves ‘perfect’ Spurs player exit

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has now given the green-light for yet another player to leave north London this summer, according to reports.

The Lowdown: Lilywhites exodus?

Spurs, as they aim for a major summer rebuild to appease Conte, could be set to orchestrate just as many outgoings as incomings in the next transfer window.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-newest-updates/” title=”Tottenham newest updates…” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Lyon loanee and club record-signing Tanguy Ndombele is likely to be offloaded with Conte not seeing a future for the 25-year-old, as backed by The Evening Standard.

Meanwhile, due to issues with their homegrown quota, transfer chief Fabio Paratici may be forced to sell one of Lucas Moura or Steven Bergwijn if he wishes to sign an overseas forward (The Telegraph).

Villarreal are also allegedly eyeing a permanent deal for Spurs midfielder Giovani Lo Celso who is currently enjoying a fine temporary stint at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

The Latest: Conte green-lights Rodon exit…

Now, according to another report by and Football Insider and a ‘Tottenham source’, the Premier League top-four chasers have also give the green-light for defender Joe Rodon to leave Spurs this summer.

The club, and by extension manager Antonio Conte, are now ‘ready to sell’ the defender and have instructed him to find a new club.

FI, relaying their previous report, add that Rodon himself ‘100%’ wants to quit Tottenham amid his lack of opportunities.

The Verdict: Time to part ways…

It is a real mystery how the 24-year-old hasn’t been utilised more since Conte’s reign going by his real promise last season.

The Wales international, called ‘special’ and ‘flawless’ by members of their national media (Ian Mitchelmore), didn’t even feature more regularly when Eric Dier was sidelined through injury – despite Spurs’ head coach claiming Rodon is his deputy.

He showed real signs of promise against the likes of Chelsea over 2020/2021 and has barely put a foot wrong when given the opportunity, with former boss Jose Mourinho even branding him a ‘perfect’ player.

Over his 12 Premier League appearances for Spurs last season, Rodon even averaged more interceptions per 90 (1.8) than any of his teammates, highlighting his real pedigree as a rising star defender (WhoScored).

It is little wonder the defender wishes to part company with the only mystery being why Conte hasn’t fancied him more.

Crystal Palace predicted XI vs NUFC

Crystal Palace make the mighty 298 mile trip to St James’ Park tonight, as they take on fellow mid-table settlers Newcastle United.

Although both sides are believed to be safe from relegation obscurity, they share the mutual ambition of reaching the traditional safe haven that is the 40 points mark.

A win for either side tonight would allow them to achieve that very ambition, though only one side can prevail.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon, Vieira revealed that the Eagles’ recent loss to Chelsea was a “massive disappointment” and ordered his side to answer questions raised.

In the same press conference, Vieira gave some succinct team news over his side’s injury status heading into this clash with the Magpies:

“Our captain Luka [Milivojevic] will not be part of the group. He felt something in his hamstring so he won’t be part of the team. Nathan [Ferguson] is still injured. Outside of those two, everybody is good.”

With that update, we at Football FanCast anticipate two changes from Palace’s loss against Chelsea in the FA Cup.

Crystal Palace predicted XI: Guaita (GK) Clyne (RB) Andersen (RCB) Guehi (LCB) Mitchell (LB) Gallagher (RCM) Kouyate (DM) Schlupp (LCM) Eze (RW) Mateta (ST) Zaha (LW).

A return back to the 4-3-3 system after two games, and two losses without it makes sense for Patrick Vieira.

Perhaps the biggest boost is the return of 22-year-old Eagles loanee Conor Gallagher who has been dubbed a “sensation” by Zach Lowy. He comes in for the £1.4m-rated James McArthur, with Gallagher proving to be one of Vieira’s biggest creative threats this season having bagged eight goals and three assists.

Our predicted line-up also sees Nathaniel Clyne restored in place of Joel Ward, who started the FA Cup semi-final last time out.

The return of Eberechi Eze will be welcomed too, after the 23-year-old completed his first full 90 minutes against Chelsea in the last game, with the player who has been dubbed “special” by CoachesVoice now over his achilles tendon problem.

Jordan Ayew, a player described as “magic” is also an unfortunate drop-out with Vieira hoping to secure victory.

Passa a escolher jogo.

É o terceiro clássico do ano.

Celtic target Scott could be at Parkhead

Rumoured Celtic transfer target Christopher Scott could be at Parkhead to watch the Hoops’ Scottish Premiership clash with St Johnstone.

The Lowdown: Celtic eye up Scott move

Ange Postecoglou is sure to be eyeing up potential summer additions at Celtic, as he looks to take them up a gear next season, hopefully when they are playing Champions League football.

One player they have been linked with signing is Scott, who is an exciting 19-year-old midfielder currently plying his trade at Bayern Munich.

Celtic are thought to be the front-runners to snap up the teenage prodigy and a fresh update suggests he could be edging towards a summer move to the club.

The Latest: Mdfielder could be at Parkhead

According to @Celticunderground on Twitter, Scott will be at Parkhead on Saturday afternoon as Celtic host St Johnstone in the league, having been spotted in Glasgow on Friday evening:

“Christopher Scott rumoured to be in Glasgow tonight ahead of attending game tomorrow as a guest of the club.”

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/key-latest-celtic-updates/” title=”Key latest Celtic updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Verdict: Move surely close

Should this be true, it surely suggests that Scott is close to agreeing a move to Celtic, in what would be an exciting piece of business by the club.

At 19, the German would very much be viewed as a long-term acquisition by the Hoops but one who could also come in and be a handy squad player from the off.

Scott has made two appearances for Bayern’s first team which is no mean feat, given the world-class quality in their squad, and he also has three caps to his name for Germany’s Under-20s.

In other news, Kieran Devlin believes one current Celtic player is now a club legend. Find out who it is here.
