Celtic reporter Kieran Devlin is hopeful three injured Hoops stars will be back available after the international break.

The Lowdown: Injury issues

Ange Postecoglou has had a number of injuries to deal with in his first season as Parkhead boss.

He was able to call upon Kyogo Furuhashi and Callum McGregor against Bayer Leverkusen and Aberdeen after the pair returned from injury, however, a number of players are still out.

Josip Juranovic suffered a knock against Dundee United, Greg Taylor underwent shoulder surgery last month and James Forrest has missed the last 10 games.

The Latest: Devlin’s claim

Devlin sent a message on The Athletic’s discussion page for the Aberdeen game on Sunday afternoon.

He admitted he is hopeful the injured trio will be back available after the international break, labelling the 2-1 win and the injury news as a ‘huge boost’.

“Briefly popping in to say that was an important result. First time this team won ugly, and first time a sub in Rogic made a difference. Huge boost going into the international break, hopefully with Juranovic, Taylor and Forrest back available in a fortnight.”

The Verdict: Time for Celtic to kickstart their season

The Hoops have won just three of their last nine games in all competitions, however, with a number of injured players hopefully returning after the international break, it could be the time Celtic’s season steps up a gear.

They still have five games in October when club action returns, four of which are in the Scottish Premiership. Postecoglou may have a near fully fit squad to choose from for those fixtures, and maximum points should see them climb up the table.

It could make or break Postecoglou in Glasgow and he may have no excuses with three potential injury boosts prior to Celtic’s next fixture.

In other news: Celtic are considering boss with similar style to Ange; he played golf with Desmond last week.

O atacante Junior Dutra foi testado no ataque no lugar de Rômulo, porém não agradou e é umas das alternativas do comandante. O Leão está na penúltima posição do campeonato, com nove pontos somados.

Vazaram relatos nas redes sociais, com fotos e vídeos (confira nesta página as imagens), de um churrasco entre os jogadores na noite da última segunda-feira, dia que retornaram pela manhã de Curitiba (PR) da partida do fim de semana passado e que ganharam de folga. A exposição incomodou a diretoria, que reuniu os envolvidos e depois todo o elenco para dar o recado de evitar este tipo de situação. A informação foi divulgada primeiro pelo “Globoesporte”.

O churrasco aconteceu em um condomínio na Barra da Tijuca, Zona Oeste do Rio de Janeiro. Contou com a participação do grupo musical “Semente do Samba”, responsável por divulgar as fotos pelo perfil no Instagram. O fato aconteceu por conta de uma brincadeira no recreativo da véspera do jogo com o Coritiba. A equipe que perdesse pagaria um churrasco para a que saísse com a vitória. Gilberto, Douglas, Mateus Vital, Jomar, Thalles, Henrique, Manga e Bruno Gallo são alguns dos jogadores que estiveram no evento.

Em entrevista coletiva após o treino na tarde desta quarta-feira, em São Januário, o atacante Luis Fabiano comentou sobre o incidente. De volta ao time titular no clássico de sábado com o Flamengo após ter cumprido suspensão automática pelo terceiro cartão amarelo na rodada anterior do Campeonato Brasileiro, Fabuloso ressaltou que a diretoria já conversou com os jogadores que estiveram no churrasco e que o assunto está superado. Ele garantiu ainda que o fato não atrapalhará a equipe na busca da vitória no Clássico dos Milhões.

– Não fui convidado (risos). Jogador no tempo livre pode fazer o que quiser. Com responsabilidade. Não vejo problema no churrasco, nós apostamos no rachão. Mas como é uma semana importante, uma vírgula vira uma frase, um churrasquinho vira um churrascão. Os juvenis deram mole (risos). Mas vão aprender. Não vai nos atrapalhar no clássico. Foram chamados, já conversaram com a diretoria. Está superado. O meu churrasco é diferente, mais light. Se vencermos eu pago. Não será um churrasco doido igual ao deles (risos) – afirmou o camisa 9.

Há também relatos de brigas no evento, o que foi negado pelo Vasco e pelos envolvidos. O lateral-direito Gilberto, no sábado passado, após o treinamento o qual seu time no recreativo “ganhou” o churrasco dos atletas que estavam na equipe derrotada na atividade, chegou a comentar sobre a aposta.

– Joga sempre a minha equipe contra o time do Nenê. Como de costume, marquei gol, dois dessa vez, e conseguimos vencer. Dessa vez, ganhamos um churrasco deles. Esse ano está complicado para o Nenê. Começou bem, com quatro vitórias, mas recuperamos. Quando jogamos de forma séria, nosso time vai melhor e os resultados acontecem. A busca do São Paulo por um zagueiro depende, unicamente, da resposta do Valencia. Aderlan Santos já informou que deseja atuar pelo Tricolor e a diretoria está esperando uma definição do clube espanhol, com quem o zagueiro tem contrato até a metade de 2020.

O São Paulo quer o jogador por empréstimo e negociar apenas essa possibilidade. A princípio, o Valencia gostaria de receber um valor próximo dos 9 milhões de euros (quase R$ 34 milhões), algo que o Tricolor nem cogita gastar.

A proposta são-paulina é dar visibilidade ao jogador, que já não faz parte dos planos do time espanhol, mantendo-o no Morumbi até 2018. E Aderlan já deixou claro aos seus representantes que seu desejo é voltar ao futebol brasileiro.

Pesa a favor do São Paulo, também, o fato de estar sozinho na negociação, frustrando a vontade inicial do Valencia de repassá-lo a outro time europeu. O Olympiacos, da Grécia, chegou a demonstrar interesse, mas não avançou.

A expectativa no Tricolor é de que a negociação seja concluída nesta quinta-feira. Caso não acerte com Aderlan, é possível que Hugo Gomes, revelado na base são-paulina, volta de empréstimo ao time B do Granada e pode ser utilizado por Rogério Ceni.

Former Celtic man and Football Insider pundit Frank McAvennie has been reacting to the news that Hoops fans won’t be in attendance against Real Betis on Thursday.

The Lowdown: Betis U-turn

It was revealed earlier this month that UEFA has lifted a ban on away fans attending Champions League, Europa League and Conference League fixtures.

The Hoops’ first Europa League group game is against the La Liga side in Spain, with Betis at first allowing Celtic supporters to attend.

However, Celtic then learned that away fans will not be permitted for the opener, with the Hoops confirming the U-turn on Friday.

The Latest: McAvennie reacts

McAvennie was talking to Football Insider in a story on Tuesday evening regarding the development with away supporters.

He described it as ‘gutting’ and wrong of Betis to mess Celtic around regarding details for visiting fans.

“It’s gutting for the Celtic fans.

“But that’s the world we live in at the moment I suppose. Things can change so quickly.

“It’s just awful for the fans who have been looking forward to going. It sounds like Betis changed their minds really quickly which is far from ideal.

“It’s wrong to mess the club around like that.

“It won’t matter though. I’m sure plenty of fans will still travel and make a noise outside the ground.”

The Verdict: Not ideal

Betis’ U-turn with less than a week before the game isn’t exactly ideal, but it is the home team’s responsibility in regards to away fans in UEFA competitions.

Celtic will have the chance to block Betis supporters travelling to Scotland for the return fixture in December, so it will be interesting to see what they decide to do.

Hopefully, not having any Celtic supporters present on Thursday won’t be a huge blow for Ange Postecoglou’s side, but one thing guaranteed is the atmosphere will be electric at Parkhead for the three home group games.

Mott is New Zealand Cricket’s preferred choice to replace John Bracewell but after only one season as a first-class coach he is uncertain whether to take on the job.”I’m definitely keeping my options open. I’ll be brutally honest, it’s about a 50-50 split at the moment,” Mott told . “I’d love to keep repaying the faith that New South Wales showed in me when I made the progression from player to coach. I can’t fault the way they’ve looked after me.”Mott, 35, was a first-class batsman with Queensland and Victoria but ended his playing career relatively early to move into coaching. He was an assistant under Trevor Bayliss at New South Wales before taking the senior role in 2007-08 and he guided the Blues to the Pura Cup title in his first season.He became the frontrunner for the New Zealand job when the South Africans Graham Ford and Mickey Arthur made themselves unavailable.
