Na última segunda-feira (9), foram definidos os quatro clubes que garantiram o acesso à Série B do Brasileirão de 2020, e entre eles, não está o time que foi tricampeão paraibano e vice da Copa do Nordeste no primeiro semestre deste ano.

Trata-se do Botafogo-PB, que não conseguiu repetir o bom desempenho nas competições anteriores, sendo eliminado do Campeonato Brasileiro da Série C apenas com a sexta colocação do Grupo A.

Um dos destaques do Alvinegro da Estrela Vermelha, o lateral direito Neilson acredita que a equipe mostrou boas atuações durante o campeonato, mas lamentou a sequência de seis jogos sem vitória no início do segundo turno como o maior fator pela não classificação para a fase seguinte:

– Chegamos motivados pelas belas campanhas que o time fez no Estadual e na Copa do Nordeste. Tanto que começamos muito bem o primeiro turno, com vitórias convincentes diante de ABC e Globo, além do clássico contra o próprio Treze, por exemplo. A gente não perdeu a classificação na última rodada, e sim, nessa série de jogos no começo do segundo turno onde conquistamos apenas 3 dos 18 pontos disputados. Tenho certeza que a gente tinha qualidade para estar nas quartas de final, mas infelizmente tivemos um momento de oscilação que esse tipo de competição não permite.

Com 15 jogos disputados, um gol marcado e três assistências na campanha do Botafogo-PB na terceira divisão, o lateral de 30 anos teve sondagens de duas equipes da Série B para o restante de 2019, segundo Douglas Poroca, empresário do atleta.

Porém, de acordo com o regulamento da CBF (Confederação Brasileira de Futebol), como Neilson já defendeu dois clubes diferentes em torneios nacionais coordenados pela entidade neste ano (Botafogo-PB na Série C e Campinense na Copa do Brasil), o jogador só pode se transferir para times que disputam competições regionais ou estaduais ainda nesta temporada.

Na última terça-feira (27), o Sport removeu uma área anteriormente reservada para homenagear o goleiro Magrão que ficava na área das sociais da Ilha do Retiro chamada de “Paredão do Magrão”. Agora, um mural publicitário referente a loteria federal ocupa o espaço.

A justificativa oficial dada pelo clube pernambucano foi que a remoção teve a intenção de evitar qualquer tipo de atos de vandalismo com a imagem do ídolo do clube que acabou se desvinculando do clube de maneira um tanto quanto traumática.

Essa é a segunda vez que o clube alega o motivo para remover uma referência a Magrão em suas instalações, tendo tirado as sete camisas usadas pelo arqueiro que estavam emolduradas no mesmo setor.

No último mês de junho, Magrão não retornou as atividades do clube sem dar inicialmente nenhuma justificativa e acionou o Leão da Ilha na Justiça do Trabalho alegando falta de pagamento de algumas parcelas de contribuição ao INSS bem como uma quantia salarial atrasada de gestões anteriores que beirava a casa do R$ 1 milhão. Com isso, o jogador de 42 anos também solicitava a rescisão unilateral de seu vínculo.

Em julho, as partes entraram em um acordo onde, ao invés de receber a indenização orçada em R$ 5 milhões, o Sport acertou junto ao atleta o pagamento de R$1.8 milhões diluídos em 44 parcelas de R$ 42 mil.
