Suresh Raina has been fined 25% of his match fee for his reaction after being given out caught by umpire Asad Rauf on the first day of the second Test between West Indies and India. The incident took place during the 56th over when a Devendra Bishoo delivery struck Raina on the thigh pad before lobbing to forward short leg.Replays were inconclusive about whether the ball had brushed Raina’s glove on its way to the fielder. Raina shook his head to indicate that he did not hit the ball which, the ICC said, seemed to be an attempt to influence the umpire’s decision. “On being given out, he looked to the sky in disgust and after picking his bat up from the ground swung it at the dirt as well as shaking his head again,” the ICC said.Raina’s actions were found to constitute a Level 1 breach of Article 2.1.3 of the ICC code of conduct which relates to “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by action or verbal abuse”. He pleaded guilty and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Chris Broad.”What Suresh did was a clear breach of the code, something the player himself has accepted,” Broad said. “There is a fine line between showing disappointment at a dismissal and demonstrating dissent but on this occasion Suresh was well over that line and his behaviour was unacceptable.”Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50% of a player’s match fee.

Wasim Akram, the former Pakistan captain, has questioned the PCB’s decision to appoint 36-year-old Misbah-ul-as Haq as the limited-overs captain in place of Shahid Afridi, saying the move is “at best a stop-gap arrangement.””The present Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq is on the wrong side of 30 and I don’t see him leading the side beyond six to eight months”, Akram told on Friday. Earlier this week the PCB decided to hand Misbah the reins for the two ODIs against Ireland at the end of the month, but chose not to offer a reason for the move. It is likely, however, that the decision came after the board decided they had had enough with Afridi’s penchant for awkward public statements. The latest situation arose when Afridi returned from the Caribbean and hinted at unhappiness with coach Waqar Younis over matters of selection.Out of 34 ODIs, Afridi had won 18 and lost 15; a stretch which included tough series against England and South Africa, and took Pakistan to the semi-finals of the 2011 World Cup, and Akram believes those results mean it was wrong to sack Afridi over such “trivial matters”.”Arguments between captains and coaches are not new in Pakistan cricket,” Akram said. “Afridi was hailed as a national hero after the World Cup, and came back from the West Indies after winning the ODI series only to find out he has been sacked. What is the PCB up to?”It is a wrong step taken by PCB, and only [chairman] Ijaz Butt is to be blamed for this. In Pakistan, the coach wants all the power and when it doesn’t happen, the fight begins.”Akram was not the only one critical of the board’s decision. Abdul Qadir, former Pakistan legspinner, felt the board should not have been so quick to change captains. “Afridi should also be careful in giving media statements,” he told . “But the fact is changing the captaincy is a cricketing decision and this one is not a sagacious one. Dropping Afridi as captain and retaining him in the side to play under Misbah appears a bad move,” he said.And former chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed said the PCB was to blame and called for the government to intervene. “Players are the ones who bring in money for the board and attract people to the sport. Afridi didn’t commit a crime if he spoke about problems he was facing as captain. Instead of listening to him the board sacked him as captain this is unjust and unfair and the government should take notice of this.”

Por fim, Kieza deu uma leve risada quando teve que explicar as cobranças do pai, Carlos, que é torcedor fanático do Glorioso. E não faltou cornetas.

-Como eu já tinha falado, meu pai é muito chato, me enche muito o saco. A audiência durou mais de 10h – com pausa para almoço – e foi dividida em três apelações: a defesa de Paolo Guerrero pediu a absolvição; a Fifa pediu a manutenção da pena de seis meses – que acabou nesta quinta-feira; e a WADA propôs o aumento da suspensão para dois anos. Depois das partes apresentarem suas ideias, os advogados fizeram suas argumentações finais.

A decisão tomada pelo Tribunal Arbitral do Esporte será final. O resultado do julgamento será anunciado nos próximos dias. Como a pena de seis meses imposta pela Fifa chegou ao fim nesta quinta-feira, dia 3 de maio, Paolo Guerrero está liberado para atuar até que a decisão do TAS seja divulgado.

Guerrero foi defendido pelos advogados Bichara Neto, Pedro Fida e Juan de Dios Crespo. Durante a audiência, o próprio centroavante peruano deu seu depoimento como testemunha. Luiz Carlos Cameron, Chefe do Departamento de Genética e Biologia Molecular da UERJ, também foi levado pela defesa para testemunhar a favor do atacante.

Na frente da sede da Corte Arbitral do Esporte, cerca de 50 peruanos ficaram de plantão durante toda a audiência em apoio ao centroavante da seleção.

Caso não tenha a suspensão aumentada, Paolo Guerrero é nome certo na lista do técnico Ricardo Gareca para a Copa do Mundo da Rússia. Pelo Flamengo, o retorno do atacante aos campos pode ser no domingo, contra o internacional.

ADVOGADO EXPLICA PRAZO DA DECISÃO

O advogado Marcos Motta, um dos mais reconhecidos no âmbito esportivo e que trabalha com o Flamengo, deu mais detalhes sobre o prazo para a decisão do jugalmento de Guerrero ser anunciada pela Corte Arbitral do Esporte (CAS).

De acordo com o advogado, as decisões do CAS não cumprem um padrão: “podem sair de imediato ou em até 3 meses (prorrogáveis).” A defesa do centroavante peruano pediu a divulgação imediatamente após a audiência.

Paolo Guerrero foi flagrado no exame antidoping no dia 6 de outubro, em jogo das Eliminatórias Sul-Americanas para o Mundial da Rússia, entre Peru e Argentina. Em 3 de novembro, a Fifa o suspendeu preventivamente por 30 dias.

A substância benzoilecgonina, um metabólito da cocaína, foi encontrada no exame antidoping de Guerrero. Esta substância não é encontrada em nenhuma medicação, somente na cocaína ou no chá de coca. A benzoilecgonina está na lista de substâncias proibidas da Agência Mundial Antidoping (Wada).

Em 8 de dezembro, a Fifa anunciou a suspensão do atacante por um ano e depois, em 20 de dezembro, reduziu o afastamento do atleta em seis meses, aceitando o recurso da defesa do jogador, que desde então tenta a absolvição.

No dia 20 de março, Guerrero voltou ao Ninho do Urubu e reencontrou os companheiros de Flamengo. O atacante estava impedido de utilizar as instalações do clube e vinha mantendo a forma física na Argentina.

A liberação de Guerrero ao dia a dia do Flamengo estava prevista no Código Antidopagem da Fifa, que diz que o atleta “poderá regressar ao treinamento com uma equipe ou ao uso das instalações de um clube durante o último quarto do período de suspensão imposto, se este for inferior a dois meses”.

ولكن فييري كان يرى أن إيكاردي سيكون أكثر أهمية لنادي يوفنتوس عن مويس كين، وهو ما تحدث عنه في حواره مع صحيفة “لاجازيتا ديلو سبورت” الإيطالية، وقال: “قبل رحيل رونالدو، قلت إن هجوم يوفنتوس أقوى، لكن الآن إنتر ميلان في المقدمة”.

وتابع: “رحيل رونالدو سيفقد يوفنتوس ما بين 25 إلى 30 هدفًا في الموسم، ولا يوجد من يعوضه في الفريق”.

وأضاف: “لكن كان يجب عليهم أن يتعاقدوا مع لاعب قادر على تسجيل كم كبير من الأهداف، ولا اعتقد أن مويس كين يستطيع ذلك، لكنني لن أحكم عليه إلا مع نهاية الموسم، لأنه يستحق ذلك”.

وأتم: “إيكاردي يشارك في مباريات قليلة مع باريس سان جيرمان، لكنه يستطيع تسجيل 20 هدفًا، يوفنتوس يحتاج إلى ذلك، ربما لو كنت مسئولًا في يوفنتوس لفعلت الكثير للتعاقد معه”.

Sangakkara said both Tillakaratne Dilshan and Angelo Mathews were ready for captaincy but said they should be given longer tenures if they are to be successful.”You have to look long term. Not just what is good for now. If you want to go for Dilshan, give him the confidence for a long term,” Sangakkara told ESPNcricinfo. “Don’t give the captaincy to Dilshan and say, ‘You are just going to be captain for a year and half.’ It’s not going to be good for him, for he is going to think, ‘My days are numbered anyway.’ And so it won’t be good for the team.”Both Dilshan and Angie [Angelo] are suitable. If they think Angie is too young then Dilshan will do a good job because he has these little touches for success. Anything he does on the field, he has this little knack. I don’t know whether he will be the long-term candidate with his age, but if he keeps himself fit he can easily play the next World Cup.”Or they can take the plunge with Angelo. That is where the selectors have to really make a call. Pressure will have to be shared, if they make a call and if things don’t go well in the first or second year, they will have to be strong that they made a good decision. They will have to put everything possible in to make sure the captain has everything to do a good job. That is the natural progression.Sangakkara said the administrators had the good of Sri Lankan cricket at heart but should never do anything that affects the players. “You can have your administrative scuffles but when it comes to playing cricket, players should not get involved with administration unless it’s something that directly affects their performance. And administrators should never cross that line. If they can maintain that familiarity and at the same time the professional distance it would be great. It can go wrong. It has gone wrong at times.”Sangakkara said he took the decision to resign three months before the World Cup and that Mahela Jayawardene supported it. “I am not resigning because I am unhappy. I can do this for longer but I don’t think it’s the right thing for me or for the team. Another World Cup is coming up in four years. We think four years is a long time but suddenly you will realise two years have already gone and the system hasn’t changed. A new guy is appointed with hardly any time to lead the team.”Sangakkara said the decisions to phase out Sanath Jayasuriya and Chaminda Vaas were the most difficult ones he took as captain. “It was a very delicate situation because Sanath and Vaasy are legends. You need to be 100% sure you are making the right decision. Personal likes and dislikes have nothing to do with what’s best for the team. We are a family, but you have arguments, your problems – that’s the way it should be, else nothing constructive is going to work.”Sangakkara said age wasn’t the criterion to drop these players and that it was purely about performance and team combination. “Sanath and Vaasy missed selection [for the World Cup] by a whisker. It was unbiased: it’s not about age. If someone is performing and contributing to the value of the dressing room, nothing else matters. It was a never a case of, oh he is old.”
